Comedy fans will be able to enjoy award-winning pub grub on Friday while helping good causes.

The General Burgoyne in Great Urswick, Cumbria, is offering a fish and chip takeaway service on Red Nose Night.

If people wear a red nose when they come in to collect their meal the £5-a-head charge will be donated straight to the appeal.

Licensees Craig and Louise Sherrington are braced to dish up hundreds of takeaways on Friday (March 13) without making a penny for the pub.

Craig said: "Our takeaways are popular, mainly among people in the village who want a night off from cooking. We hope if people are staying in to watch Comic Relief on the TV they'll think about making their donation by getting a takeaway from us.

"We had a plan to give half of all the money we made on takeaways that night to Comic Relief. But if people have made the effort and put on a red nose or a funny face we'll be donating the whole amount."
