We've teamed with Diageo to find Britain's Best Gin & Tonic – and here's some tips and advice on how to make your G&T a winner.

Check out the video above for some advice from Diageo Bar Academy trainer Kris Jadach.

As well as using a good quality classic gin as the base for your drink, think about using flavoured gins as well – these are hugely popular now. Have play around with Gordon's Premium Pink Distilled Gin or Tanqueray Sevilla, for example.

Other advice includes choosing a nice glass to give the drink some "wow" factor – Spanish-style balloon serves are popular at the moment, but a good quality hi-ball will also perform well.

Ice is very important, of course, fill the glass at least three-quarters full and use good quality ice too. Change things up with balls of ice, blocks of ice, or chunky chips from a large block of ice - a simple way to echo some of the premium cocktail bars.

Garnishes are also key and are perhaps the simplest way you can take your G&T from zero to hero.

As Kris says, "Be creative!" There's fresh and dried fruit (orange, grapefruit, lime to name but a few), herbs (try thyme or rosemary) and spices (pink peppercorn, juniper berries etc) but also consider edible glitter, foam, bitters sprayed over a stencil, cotton candy – be as imaginative as you like.
