From beers that taste of Neapolitan ice-cream, to breakfast stout, to "steam beers" and brews that have become classics, the American brewing scene has come a long way from the byword for insipid and tasteless it once was.

In 25 years the craft beer movement has transformed not just the domestic beer scene in the US but beer drinking all over the world. Now we are importing more and more to quench our thirst for American beer but with so many to choose from, which ones should you pick?

We took a look at what was on offer in the UK and identified 15 US craft beers you should most definitely try before you die.

This modern version was first brewed in 1971 and has remained a firm favourite with craft beer fans ever since.
