The FA Cup is taking pride of place there for now but the team at The Champs Sports Bar and Grill will be hoping the World Cup will grab the attention of punters this summer.

The pub, formerly known as Chevys, has been given a new lease of a life after a whopping £575,000 redevelopment.

As well as a modern design, both inside and out, the pub, which is located in Washington, Sunderland, has been packed to the rafters with sports memorabilia and an impressive 35 screens.

Licensee Lindsay Armstrong said: "The customers love the new look and how different it is. The food has really taken off – especially our homemade burgers. Customers also like our new cask ale range and the ladies like the cocktails - I believe we have created a great environment for all.

"We have had great support from Punch Taverns in re-launching the bar and it will be the place to be when the World Cup kicks off in June. I hope that Champs can go from strength to strength from here."
