From rice pudding as the next big food fad, to the idea of "desert island customers" , and everything you ever needed to know about the modern craft beer movement, Monday's inaugural Next Generation event (11 April 2016) was packed with expert advice, ideas and help.
She was followed by the two Andys – Andy Turner and Andy Wingate of Heineken UK – who shared excusive research, including footage of eye-tracking studies the company has undertaken to understand how customers choose a drink in pubs and bars.
Mark McCulloch of branding and marketing agency We Are Spectacular then took to the stage to talk publicans through creating a business brand, offering up gems of wisdom from his years helping brands such as Costa, Yo! Sushi, Fuller’s and Drake & Morgan.
A panel of multi-operators, comprising Peter Borg-Neal of Oakman Inns, Chris Lewis of The Lewis Partnership, Aaron Moore-Saxon of Aspirational Pubs and Becky Salisbury of Salisbury Pubs, then took questions from audience members thinking of expanding their businesses.
The day closed with a cocktail masterclass and advice on training from Diageo’s Bar Academy team.
Followed by an exclusive tour of the Sky Sports studios and the opportunity to network with some of the brightest and best in the industry over cold beers and cocktails.
