Determination and atmosphere are the key to success, say couple celebrating 10 years behind the bar.
Cheryl Hickman and Wayne Starling sold their cars and house to take over the Bull Inn in Suffolk in 2007, now an award-winning “quirky” pub with rooms and a local menu.
The couple were newcomers to the industry when they took on the previously failing business.
Cheryl said: “We have maintained our customer base and also continued the year on year increase. This is proof that the food and drink can only do half the job, as the atmosphere of The Bull is what creates that something unique.”
Now, the pub has won numerous awards and two AA Rosettes. It also runs regular events within the community, including murder mystery nights.

Cheryl continued: “It is a real testament to the commitment, hard work, determination and dedication of all involved.
“Many a time along the way people have said 'you shouldn’t do it that way' or 'that will never work' but we stayed strong and we are now in an amazing position from where the business was just 10 years ago.”
