Rockers Status Quo are following up their beery success with Piledriver (a beer made in collaboration with the Wychwood Brewery two years ago) with another beer launch – plus a new cider.

Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt of the band have this time joined forces with Hobson's Brewery in Shropshire for the ale and the Celtic Marches company in Herefordshire for the cider.

Dog Of Two Head ale is a "chestnut amber traditional ale" described as having a modern citrus twist delivered by British Fuggles, Challenger, Goldings and Progress hops. It is available in bottle now and on draught from next month (June).

Down Down cider is a medium cider made from cider apples, described as "beautifully rounded" and well balanced. A sparkling version is available in 500ml bottles and 30 litre kegs, and a still version in 20 litre bag-in-box. It has already been chosen to feature as part of the JD Wetherspoon National Cider Festival this year, which runs from Friday July 8.

Francis Rossi said, "We know what we like. And we know what our fans like. And I think we can all agree that we like these!"

Rick Parfitt added, "It's no secret that over the years the band has enjoyed a drink or three. Finally, we're actually seeing a return on those wasted hours by creating something useful. We love it!"
