A brewer and a distiller have joined forces to create a hop-flavoured gin.

The collaboration is a Cornish affair involving Sharp's Brewery and Tarquin's Cornish Gin.

The "smooth and aromatic" spirit, called The Hopster, was infused with Crystal, Cascade and Pilot hops in an "homage to beer drinkers," said Ed Hughes, beer sommelier at Sharp's Brewery.

"We're delighted to have partnered with Tarquin's Gin to produce this hugely exciting product," he added.

"The infusion of hops and gin is a unique combination, and it is the first collaboration of its kind for both Sharp's and Tarquin's. The exceptional blend of traditional dry gin complements the distinctive hoppy notes that you would normally expect from an ale."

Just 300 bottles have been made, currently available online from the brewery's website and from the brewery's shop while stocks last.

Earlier this week a company launched a new gin foam to give cocktails a gastonomic twist.
