It's based on a popular Mexican street drink and served with lemon & salt but there's not a drop of tequila in sight.
Tepacho, inspired by tepache – a Mexican tipple made from fermented pineapple - is a new lightly sparkling 5.5 per cent ABV pineapple flavoured cider from Molson Coors' premium division Brew + Press.
Currently on trial in bars in East London the brand is is targeted at 18 to 34-year-olds who want to trade up to more premium and unique ciders.
"Designed to be eye-catching and unique, Tepacho appeals to consumers who want to live a fun, experimental and colourful life - what we call 'La Vida Mexicana'," said Ali Pickering, portfolio brand director at Molson Coors.
"Tepacho brings Mexican culture and values to life, offering UK drinkers an exhilarating fresh twist on the fruit cider sector."
The company is recommending three serves:
- The Perfect Serve: Tepacho with a squeeze of lime
- The Theatrical Serve: Tepacho with lemon & salt
- The Pina Collins: Tepacho with white rum, lemon juice & sugar syrup
