It's time to get our Christmas on! In the same week as the John Lewis Christmas ad landed news reaches us that the classic Coca-Cola truck advert is back too.
As well as the return of the truck ad and tour, this year Coca-Cola European Partners (CCEP), the UK distributor, also confirmed it is funding a new initiative to provide meals to those in need during the festive season.
The festive truck will hit TV screens in the middle of this month, coinciding with a tour to 43 locations around the UK to help, "build excitement among consumers heading into the on-trade's busiest time of year," said Paul Robertson, associate director, on-trade.
The company has partnered with Fareshare, the UK charity which redistributes food that would otherwise go to waste to charities and community groups that support the vulnerable for its new initiative.
Pub-goers buying a bottle of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Coca-Cola Classic or Diet Coke will be given a Christmas decoration and promotional voucher, which will trigger a donation to Fareshare when activated online.
Licensees wanting to get involved can get kits from the CCEP account manager or by calling 0808 1 000 000 from the middle of this month.
"Coca-Cola is always a popular choice as people get together to celebrate Christmas, and we're proud to be marking the festive season by working with FareShare to provide meals to people in need across GB, reinforcing the spirit of Christmas as the season of giving," said Robertson.
