Thatchers is renaming its traditional craft cider range in honour of second generation cidermaker Stan Thatcher, grandfather to current cidermaker Martin Thatcher.

Stan's will include two new canned ciders as part of the range – the first traditional canned ciders launched by Thatchers - called Leaf Twister and Barrel Roller.

They join three of the company's best loved traditional ciders: Trad, Cheddar Valley and Big Apple, which will be available on draught and in bag-in-box.

"I'm sure my grandfather would be very proud to have his name on this range," said Martin.

"He was a true artisan cidermaker and many of the skills and traditions we still hold dear today originated with him. He was also a pioneer, and it's therefore fitting that we are introducing our first two canned trad ciders in his name."

Apple ciders have been returning to popularity recently, with launches such as Strongbow Cloudy Apple, Peacock from Kingfisher and celebrity offerings such as Mötorhead's Snaggletooth cider.
