German-based O'Donnell Moonshine is launching its products in the UK after three years of success in Berlin.
The company produces a “craft” barrel-aged wheat spirit named Moonshine, sold in mason jar bottles to replicate those used in the 1920’s when alcohol was prohibited.
O'Donnell Moonshine is available in four flavours; Original, Bitter Rose, Roasted Apple and Tough Nut.
Hugo Cooke, director of O’Donnell Moonshine, said: “All our Moonshine is produced in Germany and from a base of wheat grain sourced near Cologne.
“It is distilled once, meaning that there is still a distinctive taste from the grain and then put in oak barrels for a couple of months.
“We create a syrup using natural ingredients, which is then combined with our original spirit to produce the flavoured variants.”
The spirit can be served neat, with tonic or in cocktails. Hugo suggests Bitter Rose & tonic, Roasted Apple & ginger beer and Tough Nut with milk & coffee.
