Magners is going down the dark fruits route with the launch of a new cider for the on-trade.

Magners Dark Fruits will initially be available on draught in 500 venues in Scotland as a trial to test the market.

The four per cent ABV fruit cider is described as having notes of jammy berries and sharp blackcurrants.

Janette Murray, Magners marketing manager, said: "From our research we know there's room on the bar for a new fruit cider and people want more choice in draught cider offering.

"Magners Dark Fruit offers cider drinkers a fruitier alternative to draught apple cider, and we're sure a chilled pint of Magners Dark Fruit will be a welcome addition to any beer garden this summer."

The launch follows the success of the Heineken owned Strongbow Dark Fruit which has grown to become one of the leading draught cider brands in the UK following its 2014 launch.
