Cornish classic Doom Bar is not only the best-selling ale in the country, it is the People's Choice.
In an Inapub survey of more than 500 pub goers it came out as the most popular beer of its kind, beating Timothy Taylor Landlord and Black Sheep Best Bitter into second and third respectively.
It was first produced as a blend of two beers in 1996 (Bill Sharp's blended the light and hoppy Cornish Coaster and the darker, malty Sharp's Own), making Doom Bar an instant hit.
Demand quickly took off in Cornwall and over the subsequent years, the brand's popularity grew throughout the West country and then across the south of the UK and into London.
Today, Doom Bar is the UK's no.1 selling cask and premium bottled ale.
Doom Bar assistant brand manager, Rachel Williams, said: "We continue to see exceptional consumer demand for Doom Bar, driven by the consistent high quality of our beer and the wide appeal of our brand (supported by exciting activities such as this year's British and Irish Lions rugby sponsorship).
"Increased distribution has meant that more people now have access to Doom Bar and rate of sale remains very strong, which again is great news for customers and consumers."
She added: "We at Sharp's Brewery remain dedicated to our founding principles of service and quality and we are delighted to now employ around 145 passionate staff at our brewery in Rock, Cornwall - twice the amount we had six years ago!
"The whole team at Sharp's would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who drinks or stocks Doom Bar and to everyone who voted in the People's Choice Awards!"
