The latest entrant to the UK low and no alcohol beer scene is this lager from German brewery, Krombacher, containing less than 0.5 per cent ABV.

The beer is brewed to the strict German Purity Law and then goes through a process of "de-alcoholisation" developed especially in Krombach, which keeps the beer's aromas and flavours intact.

In its home market it is the most popular alcohol-free pils, "In fact, every fifth alcohol-free pils drunk in Germany comes from Krombach," says Stephan Kofler, director of sales and marketing at Krombacher Drinks UK.

It also boasts "isotonic benefits" and is low in calories, containing just 26kcal per 100ml.

"Krombacher Pils Low Alcohol is refreshing, thirst-quenching and, in addition, contains natural vitamins," said Stephan.

Thousands of people are going Sober for October this year, and most people aren't doing it just for charity.
