CAMRA has announced that Jackie Parker will take over the role of national chairman next year.

After seven years on the consumer group's national executive, she will take over from Colin Valentine, who has been in the post for the past eight years.

Jackie said: "My vision for CAMRA is to ensure we remain as relevant to our active volunteers, our members, possible new members and those people visiting pubs and clubs as possible, and we continue to achieve our goals of campaigning for real ale, cider and perry drinkers across the UK."

She will take up the post in April at CAMRA'S Members Weekend. By then CAMRA's long-awaited Revitalisation Project – a review of its own purpose – will have come been completed.

Colin said: "Hopefully members will vote to approve the National Executive's recommendations, which would be the perfect time for me to step down and let Jackie lead the implementation of the changes."
