From the stable of Stone's Ginger Wine this new gin aims to introduce new people to the brand and grab a slice of the £791.9m UK gin market (Nielsen).

Brand-owner Accolade Wine, which is increasingly moving its brands into other categories such as with the launch of Echo Falls Summer Berries Vodka, says that three-quarters of drinkers recognise the Stone's brand.

"We therefore wanted to extend our offering to introduce new consumers to the iconic Stone's brand and monopolise on the current ginger flavour trend by putting the gin in ginger," said brand manager Abigail Whithair.

Stone's was first produced in London's Finsbury Distillery in 1740 (when the first gin craze was in full swing). This new addition to the range is made using traditional methods, said the company, and the launch will be supported with on-trade activation, a sampling and PR campaign.

The signature serve will be the G&G – Stone's Gin & ginger ale, garnished with a wedge of fresh lime and slice of ginger.
