To celebrate National Pie Week, one pub has revealed that it serves the equivalent weight of 15 polar bears in pies each year.

The Windmill pub in Mayfair, London, claims to serve around 15 tonnes of pies a year, drizzled in 5,500 litres of gravy (around 70 bathtubs' worth).

The pub also serves over 460 kilos of potatoes every single week to accompany the pies.

To mark the national celebration of pies, the pub will be hiding prizes in envelopes under all the pies it serves this week, so customers have the chance to win anything from tours of Camden Brewery to bottles of 18-year-old Chivas Regal, Sipsmith gin & tonic sets and a Kindle Fire.

The Windmill has won the British Pie Awards three times and makes each pie with British seasonal ingredients.

The British Pie Awards 2017 take place this week on March 8, where a pub will be given the award for the best pub pie.
