The app, A Game to Train, uses “immersive” gaming technology and offers catering businesses a free food hygiene certificate on successful completion.
Staff will receive a Level 2 standard qualification.
Following the continued pressure to make the display of hygiene ratings in restaurants compulsory, the game makers developed the app to help businesses train staff.
Audrey Deane, co-founder of the app, said: “Hygiene in the kitchen is such a vital consideration, yet without the proper provision and training, hard-won reputations can be tarnished or even destroyed in an instant.
“We have been working in the food industry for many years and know the long hours’ people work to keep business booming."
