The best pub breakfast in the UK has been crowned by Inapub in partnership with Kraft Heinz.

The Tap on the Line, at Kew Gardens station, Richmond, has taken home gold for its locally sourced full English breakfast.

The runners up were The Railway Pub in Ringwood, Dorset, The Wagon Inn in Oldham, Greater Manchester and Abel Heywood in the Northern Quarter, Manchester.

Pubs from all across the country entered the competition, which was carefully judged by partners at Kraft Heinz after a month long search.

Andy Bacon, culinary development innovation manager at Kraft Heinz, said: “The standard of entries was incredibly high from pubs all across the country, but the Tap on the Line breakfast stood out for a number of reasons.

"It uses locally sourced ingredients, delivered daily, and there is nothing like a breakfast cooked to order however you like it, from crispy bacon to runny eggs.

“It is fantastically presented and head chef, Sam Hitchcock, has carefully thought out every item on the menu to source the best ingredients.

“What’s more, the fact that they serve breakfast through to five o'clock shows they are meeting a demand and have tapped into the trend for all day breakfast.”

Tap on the Line, Richmond, London

Runners up

The Railway, Ringwood, Dorset

“Ours is a no nonsense number, a traditional full English costing just £5.

“It uses our ingredients from predominantly local suppliers- the eggs come from our own pub chickens, sausages from local Crow Farm, bread baked by local artisan baker bakehouse 24, the black pudding is handmade by the local butcher, bacon from a local pig farmer, local tomatoes and mushrooms, served with of course baked beans and Heinz ketchup or Brown sauce straight from the bottle.”

Abel Heywood, Manchester

“Our breakfast menu features some really diverse options. Most recently, the million dollar bacon, which is bacon cured in treacle, soy and five spice.

“We also serve nutritional vegetarian and vegan options such as our protein 'pretty green' bowls and fruit sundaes with cream or coconut cream, to ensure we are catering for all dietary requirements. We change the menu up every six to 12 months to keep the ideas fresh.

“Our amazing fry up features delicious locally sourced ingredients, including Manchester sausages and Bury black pudding. It has eight different components and is a real winner with hotel guests and pub diners.”

The Waggon Inn, Oldham, Greater Manchester

“Our Large Full English, we believe, is the best breakfast around. We source all the freshest ingredients from the best suppliers and we prepare each and every breakfast from scratch in our 5-star rated kitchen by our award winning chefs.

"Each breakfast is perfectly complemented by our Louie Mio coffee in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere with exceptional service.”
