The winner of the MAGGI® Britain's Best Pub Roast competition has been announced by Inapub this morning.
The White Post, Rimpton, Somerset, won the award following an extremely tough competition between hundreds of high quality entrants.
The pub was given the prize for its outstanding family-style sharing roast, which includes between three to five cuts of locally supplied meats, locally sourced vegetables, foraged herbs, and freshy prepared Yorkshire puddings and gravy.
Judges praised the exceptional level of cooking, ingredients and preparation of the dish, and were particularly impressed with the communal aspect of the roast, which sees families come together on Sundays to share the meal.
Speaking of winning the award, Brett Sutton, chef-patron of The White Post, said: "Wow! It's crazy to think from so many quality establishments we have come out on top as Britain's best pub roast!
"We love what we do, and strongly believe in what we serve: a family-style board of well cooked meats, dripping cooked potatoes, giant Yorkshire puddings, amongst all the other goodies you'd expect! We are truly very, very proud!!"
Charlotte Ponti, Savoury Food Category & Commercial Manager at Nestlé Professional®, who sponsored the award, said of the winner: "We know that pub chefs work incredibly hard to produce the great food they do every day and the weekly roast is no better testament to their skills.
"Loved by the whole family, this is a meal that has a lot to live up to and we couldn't be more impressed with the fantastic menu created by The White Post.
"We hope our hamper of MAGGI® product and goodies, will give The White Post chefs the helping hand they need to keep creating delicious dishes every day."
