A festive menu with all the trimming for only £2 per plate is being offered by BB Foodservice.

The firm is offering operators the opportunity for pubs to dish up with turkey crown, white potatoes, carrots, Brussel sprouts, parsnips, stuffing balls, pigs in blankets, gravy and cranberry sauce – all for a couple of quid per person.

Pubs also have the option of going premium for a fiver per plate with welcome drinks, a table dressing, some booze and a portion of Christmas pud.

The foodservice firm made the move following news that Brits are expected to spend on average £58 for their Christmas meal out of home, and believes delivering the plates at the £2-5 price range allows pubs to make a significant profit margin.

Tony Holmes, sales director at BB Foodservice, said food – and drink – were crucial to success.

He said: "The festive period is arguably the busiest in foodservice. Operators with the right Christmas offer can take advantage of the increased custom and really reap the benefits.

"With like-for-like sales in Christmas dining on the decline, great margin is going to be key this year. However, with pubs seeing sales head the other way, there's a clear opportunity in a well-rounded drinks offer.

"It's important to be well stocked and keep customers, and Christmas parties, coming back to the bar."
