Landlord and chef Ashley McCarthy has created a Wonderland of chocolate in time for Christmas.

His masterpiece, based on Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, will be displayed at the pub he runs with his wife Kelly, Ye Old Sun Inn, in Colton, Yorkshire, up to Christmas.

Admiring customers are invited to make a donation in aid of the Martin House Hospice for young children with life shortening illnesses.

The chocolate will then be delivered to the children before Christmas Day.

Ash raises funds throughout the year for the hospice and has been making incredible chocolate creations for several years - check out last year's Frozen effort.

His Mad Hatter's Tea Party contains a whopping:

  • 5kg of Belgian chocolate
  • 10kg of icing
  • 1kg of glucose.

It took more than 40 hours of melting, sticking and shaping to finish the piece.

You can even tuck into the frame, which has been coated in yet more chocolate.

It would almost be a shame to eat it... but then again.
