Egg hunts, Easter martinis, psychic fairs and cake bake-offs. From the fun to the whacky, it’s going to be a cracking bank holiday for pubs.

Easter eggs are rolling and pub tills should be chiming - so here’s a roundup of what pubs across the country are up to. It's not too late, these might even inspire a few ideas of your own...

The White Swan, Charlton, London

Ready, set, BAKE! The White Swan has organised an Easter Bake Off for punters on Good Friday. Customers must bring their best bakes to the pub and the winner gets a chocolate hamper. The cakes will be sold for charity or bakers can take them home.

The Five Bells, Eastry, Kent

Kicking the weekend off with a touch of the extraordinary, the pub will be hosting a craft & psychic fair. The rest of the weekend consists of an all-day Easter egg hunt on Sunday and a raffle to raise money for Kent Air Ambulance.

Slug & Lettuce, nationwide

Stonegate Pub Company’s Slug & Lettuce sites will be flogging an Easter Egg Martini from 13th– 17th April.

It is made with Baileys Irish Cream, triple sec, Marie Brizard Cacao Brun, fresh double cream and is garnished with whipped cream, servedwith a shot glass of mini eggs on the side.

If you fancy giving it a go on your own bar, here is how to make it:

  • 25 ml Baileys
  • 2.5 ml triple sec
  • 12.5ml Marie Brizard Cacao Brun
  • 100ml double cream

Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with whipping cream and mini eggs.

The Keel Row, Whitley Bay, Tyne & Wear

The pub is giving back this Easter by collecting chocolate eggs from its customers to pass on to poorly and disadvantaged kids in the local area.

The Dolphin, Thorpeness, Suffolk

It's a beach clean followed by wine and cheese for this pub. As part of the annual Thorpeness beach clean on Good Friday, customers will meet at the pub for coffee and biscuits before heading to the beach to do their bit. Then they'll return for some hard earned refreshments to exchange tales of what they found.

The Green Man, Chelmsford, Essex

The Galvin Brothers' country pub will host a cinema for kids, so the adults can enjoy drinks or lunch in the dining room while the wee-ones watch Easter-themed animation, Hop. The pub will also be serving up a hearty Sunday lunch, of course.

Mitchells & Butlers, nationwide

Britvic and Mitchells & Butlers pubs have partnered to launch a set of virtual reality (VR) interactive egg hunt themed games.

Guests can get involved when they buy a J20 during April and will get issued with a bunny-ears straw featuring a QR code to access the game.

Three different games have been created – Bunny Hunt, Egg Smash and Egg Hunt. Guests win a free J2O if they find all the eggs, smash all the eggs or find all the bunnies.
