Premier League new boys Brighton & Hove Albion will mark their return to the big time as one of the first teams to be featured on live TV next season.

Their opener against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City will be screened live on BT Sport at 5.30pm on the first Saturday of the season – August 12.

For the first time ever the Premier League will actually get underway on the Friday (August 11), with Leicester's trip to Arsenal being shown live on Sky Sports at 7.45pm.

Sky will also show the lunchtime clash between Watford and Liverpool on Saturday. A bumper weekend of live football continues on Sunday with more games on Sky – Tottenham travel to Newcastle and Manchester United will face West Ham.

The action really gets started a week before, with Chelsea playing Arsenal in the Community Shield on Sunday August 6 and a huge game between Manchester United and Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup on August 8. Both games will be live on BT Sport.

It marks a stunning start to the season with all the title contenders being featured by both broadcasters in the opening weeks.

Bruce Cuthbert, director, commercial customers, BT Sport, said: "What a fabulous start to the new season with newly promoted Brighton hosting Manchester City on the south coast on the opening day. And by the 1st October, BT Sport will feature Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal no less than five times -something that's guaranteed to pull in the crowds."

David Rey, managing director of Sky Business, said: "The opening weekend promises to be an unmissable three days of football with some massive names in action, helping landlords to pull in the crowds and drive trade with the games that matter to pub-goers."
