The search is on to discover the UK’s most dog-friendly places, so if your pub is filled with dog walkers right now you could be in with a chance of winning.

The DogFriendly Awards 2017, held in association with dog welfare organisation, the Kennel Club, is asking the public to nominate their favourite places to take four-legged friends.

This comes as research by the Kennel Club reveals 96 per cent of people noticed an improved atmosphere when dogs were allowed in, while another research project found that four out of every five companies believe that business improved once they opened the doors to the canine creatures.

Members of the public can nominate and vote for their favourite businesses and places online at

Winners will be announced during the Eukanuba Discover Dogs show at ExCeL, London, on October 21.

The 2017 award categories supported by the Kennel Club will include the best: Places to Stay, Pub/Bar, Day Out, Café/Restaurant, Beach, Town/City, Large Organisation and Employer.

The award is part of the Kennel Club’s long-running Be Dog Friendly campaign, which aims to encourage more businesses and public spaces to welcome dogs, and includes the annual Be Dog Friendly Week (starting July 24) where business owners are encouraged to learn more about the positive benefits of being dog-friendly.
