In those stories where an Englishman an Irishman and a Scotsman walk into a bar, the joke always ends up at the expense of the drinker from the Emerald Isle.

But when it comes to pub quizzes it looks as if the joke is on everyone else.

This autumn, sports pub finder MatchPint and Guinness are trying to find which nation has the most knowledgeable rugby fans by setting a weekly quiz.

After week one the Irish lead the way, with a collective correct answer rate of 56 per cent.

They're trailed by Welsh fans with 52 per cent, whilst Scotland and England supporters are tied at the bottom with 47 per cent.

The average score across the board was 4.9 out of 10.
