The Ashes may have been a massive disappointment for England's cricketers and fans but they've helped one licensee claim a top prize.
Vicky Martin, who has been landlady at The Sup & Chow in Cheltenham for 16 months, has been named as broadcaster BT Sport's Manager of the Month for November.
She received the prize yesterday when BT pundit and former England ace Michael Owen visited the Wadworth pub.
Judges awarded Vicky the prize for "opening at all hours so punters never miss a moment of live sport, like The Ashes and boxing, no matter the time of the day".
She said: "Winning this accolade was an amazing feeling and I'm very proud of my achievements in the last 16 months. As a team we have worked really hard to promote Sup & Chow as a pub that has something for everyone, including sports.
"When we have big sporting events in the morning, such as the Ashes, we always open for breakfast, and we have board games to occupy the little ones during any matches. It really is a pub for everyone – and we're so proud of this award."
Michael said: "It's brilliant to celebrate the nation's most deserving landlords and landladies with BT Sport Manager of the Month. I really enjoyed meeting Vicky and her locals, who are hugely thankful for the efforts she seems to go for them!"
On top of the trophy and the visit from Michael Owen Vicky also won a 4K TV.
