It's Hearts over Hibs for Edinburgh licensee Kevin McGhee whose pub, The Athletic Arms, is a known venue for Heart of Midlothian fans – despite Kevin himself being a confirmed fan of local rivals Hibernian FC.

Kevin's sacrifice (and business acumen) has now been acknowledged however, as BT Sport has named him its Manager of the Month for December.

BT Sport director of commercial customers, Bruce Cuthbert, said the company was impressed not only with the links Kevin has forged with the Tynecastle-based club but also the community spirit with which he runs his business.

"Congratulations to Kevin and the team on winning the BT Sport Manager of the Month award. Pubs up and down the country make outstanding contributions to the communities they serve, and this award is a small way of recognising some of the work they do."

The pub is decorated with photos and Hearts memorabilia and sponsors several players.

Kevin received his trophy from Hearts captain Christophe Berra and BT Sport pundit John Hartson. He has also won a 4K TV to make watching football in the pub even better for punters.

"I am so delighted to win this," Kevin said.

"It is great for the pub and the team because we are used to seeing the style bars in town get the awards rather than a traditional pub with sport, like ours."

The win at least partially made up for Hearts' recent 1-0 victory over Hibs in the cup.
