Who says alcohol and politics don't mix? Not the West Midlands mayor, who is set to host a question and answer session in a pub for the first time.

The event will be held in the beer garden at the Prince of Wales pub in Moseley on September 19, and will see mayor of the West Midlands Combined Authority, Andy Street, share a pint with members of the public while discussing their concerns.

The Q&A session is part of his regular series of ‘Ask Andy’ events, which he has hosted since last year in order to connect with people directly.

Andy has said he is looking forward to supping with locals.

He told the local paper: “This will, to our knowledge, be the first mayoral question and answer session in a pub. We’ve had ones in community centres, theatres and factories before, but never in a pub.

“The Moseley event is sure to be a lively one. I know the Clean Air Zones and reopening of the Camp Hill railway line are both hot topics in this part of the region and I expect the questions will be as challenging as ever.

"Only this time, I’ll be able to have a drink while I’m doing it!”
