Was the party at your pub so good this weekend that you could be crowned Britain's Best Rugby Pub?

With the Six Nations underway, the hunt is on again to find a venue worthy of such a prestigious crown.

The social media search has been launched by the Aberdeen Standard Investments Melrose Sevens.

Between now and the start of March, pubs can nominate themselves on Twitter using @melrose7s and the hashtag #bestrugbypub or by visiting www.facebook.com/melrose7s.

Pubs are invited to post photos and explain why they deserve to win the title.

The winner will be revealed at the Melrose 7s on April 13.

Last year's winner was The Merchant's Inn, Rugby, which stands yards from the school where the game was invented.

Manager James Reeve said: "The plaque takes pride of place outside our premises and it's the first thing that visitors see when they walk in – they know they are entering Britain's Best Rugby Pub of 2018. We would love to retain the title, but we know the competition will be tough."

Douglas Hardie, Melrose Rugby Club president, added: "It's all to play for – we can't wait to hear the pub-going public's suggestions for the 2019 Rugby Pub of the Year.

"Going by last year's experience, we expect this competition to generate plenty of competitive rivalry, just as there will be on the pitch at Melrose on April 13."
